Types of Grants & Scholarships

The financial aid programs administered by KOSAF are customized for students’ various needs. Together, the programs offer aid to an increasing range of students. Through its grants and scholarship programs, KOSAF strives to establish a system in which any qualified individual has the opportunity to pursue higher education, regardless of financial status.

KOSAF’s grant and scholarship programs are divided into three main categories: need-based, merit-based, and work-based.

WORK-BASED AID

National Work-Study Program

National Work-Study Program
PURPOSE OF THE PROGRAM Supported by the Korean government, KOSAF offers work-based scholarships that provide financial support for on and off campus work. Students from low-income families receive tuition support and living expenses.
DISTRIBUTION OF AID - on-campus work: KRW 8,000/hr
- off-campus work: KRW 9,500/hr
ELIGIBILITY - Undergraduate students with demonstrated financial need
- Must meet minimum academic requirements
- Applicants are given priority based on their Family Income Level(From the lowest to highest):
  · 1st priority: Students with Family Income Level 1~4
  · 2nd priority: Students with Family Income Level 5~6
  · 3rd priority: Students with Family Income Level 7~8
- Applicants at the same Family Income Level are given priority based on the following criteria:
  · students with disabilities
  · married students
  · students from multi-child families
  · students whose parents are disabled or with serious illnesses
  · Students who defected from North Korea
  · Veterans and persons of national merit
  · Students who have outstanding student loans
FURTHER INFORMATION For day students (full-time), maximum hours of work may not exceed 20hrs per week during school semesters and 40 hrs per week during school breaks. Evening students (part-time) may work up to 40 hrs per week during school periods.
